Clara Jane:
You turned three weeks old yesterday! I cant believe how big you have gotten in such little time. It feels like yesterday we were in the hospital processing the idea that we are going to be your parents forever and now you are days from being month old. At three weeks you mastered the concept of a bottle in the first try! You drank 2.5 ounces like a champ! It is so frightening to be a parent. I am constantly worried about whether I am doing the right thing, if you are eating enough, if we are rocking you too hard, etc.
Everyone in the world seems to be dying to meet you. I think the plan is to take you to church so that your fan club and church family at Church Alive can meet you.
Thanksgiving through Sunday your daddy was home with us. It was so nice to have our little family together. Friday, your Mimi and I took you to the mall where we shopped the whole day together. Saturday your daddy put your crib together and we rearranged the bedroom so you could be right next to our bed. Sunday, we took you to the thrift store shopping and you were such a good girl. We were going to clean the house, but decided to just spend the day relaxing.
Right now, as I am writing you this letter, you are asleep in your new crib that your daddy built and we (your daddy and I) are relaxing together. It feels so good to have a moment as a couple where we can be together. You have made our relationship so much stronger and better. It makes me excited about seeing you grow up and how it will make us a strong family.
I am so excited to say that my postpartum moodiness is beginning to subside as I am getting more and more sleep at night. God has really blessed us. Although you bring tears to my eyes many times in a week, they are all because of how happy I am.
Today, we stayed the day at Liz's house. Mommy stepped on a scale today and learned she really only has 7 lbs to her pre-pregnancy weight. It makes me feel good about myself knowing that the weight is slowly coming off. We had supper with your God mommy, Mike, Riley, and your daddy. It was so nice. She made Mongolian Pork, rice, salad, and banana creme pie (looking dish). It was amazing!
I pray that you are able to read this one day and know the feelings and thoughts I had being a new mommy what happened in your life. Even though my letters are a snapshot into your life and mine, I pray they bless you.
I love you,
Mommy
